This MHL adapter by Delock allows e.g. to connect a smartphone to a monitor or projector, by using an optional HDMI cable. An existing power supply of the smartphone or tablet PC must be connected to the additional Micro USB female port of the adapter. Thus, e.g. videos can be played while the mobile device is powered simultaneously.
